GAMESTOP says game title sales underperformed in October

This from an artical on IGN's website

BY EVAN CAMPBELL: "GameStop saw slower sales than the retailer expected with new game releases in October, even though the month featured launches for Battlefield 1, Gears of War 4 and Titanfall 2.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, GameStop CEO Paul Raines discussed the disappointing results with investors.

"Our expectation was that the new titles released in October would provide a catalyst for new software sales, but despite gaining market share, the titles underperformed our forecasted sales," he said."

What does this really mean?

Gamestop and outdated game stores like it, are not going to last much longer in my opinion, the days of buying games from a game only store is pretty much gone, walk in stores Like Walmart, Bestbuy and Target meet and often beat their deals on new games and online sales are fast, easy and often cheaper still.

The only part of Gamestop that holds interest is the game exchange and resale of used games. Super sales from Steam and other online DLC dealers will soon kill that side of the market for them also.

This is much the same as what happen to the Hastings store chain with its closing of all the store due to poor performance in sales compared to online media sales being so much cheaper and easier to obtain.

What do you think?
